ABOUT THE COLLABORATION

These three organizations have teamed up for Putting the “We” In Abortion: Coming Together Through Art and Activism To Fight For Bodily Autonomy because they believe it’s the perfect way to intersect culture with social change.

Abortion Access Front founder Lizz Winstead puts it this way, “Fighting oppression with music, beauty and humor is a revolutionary act. Our work at AAF gives people a variety of ways that involve creating change through community building, art and culture. Great things come when rage intersects with joy, and the event and fundraiser will help many start on, or add more opportunities to their activism.“

Brownstone Cowboys Magazine founders Zoe Adlersberg and Heathermary Jackson see the event as a crucial part of their mission at the magazine. “Brownstone Cowboys is all about the intersection of style and social justice. We can no longer separate what we wear from what we think,” Adlersberg says, “By creating a collection of vintage shirts with quotes about bodily autonomy, we are encouraging conversation around reproductive rights and abortion. Hosting these discussions at the magazine’s homebase, brings our vision to life. Jackson, echos that thought, “The collaboration with AAF and TPP is at the core of our mission - We are so happy to have our vintage pieces elevated with Tiny Pricks stitching to bring attention to the great work AAF is doing. To be part of the solution and feel the solidarity that comes with that.

Diana Weymar, Tiny Pricks Project Founder has found her art an incredible activist toolWhen we come together, we can make great things happen. AAF is, at its heart, all about education. If we know, we can do. And sometimes we learn the most when we sit together telling our stories heart to heart. This special weekend will be a chance to do just that as we continue to fight for our bodily autonomy.”

Super talented stylist-turned-photographer Thistle Browne and stylist Heathermary Jackson — both in New Zealand during COVID-19 lockdowns — traveled to Rangitoto Island, a dormant volcano off the coast of Central Auckland, to shoot the new campaign for New Zealand jewelry designer Jasmin Sparrow. The shoot showcases Sparrow’s timeless gold and silver jewelry, and a beautiful collection of hand-beaded bras and skull caps designed with Glen Prentice. Models wore mainly vintage from Search and Destroy and Brownstone Cowboys’ collection, combined with some local, sustainable brands and New Zealand gumboots (rainboots).

A collection of photographs, curated by Brownstone Cowboys Creative Director, Heathermary Jackson, will also be available for auction on Rally Up, donated by Michael Stipe, Gillian Laub, Cass Bird, Helena Christensen, and more, that explore the theme of “Bodily Autonomy”.

Thanks to everyone who participated! We raised over $18,000 for Abortion Access Front!!
