Ross Muir exhibit launch, London
Painter Ross Muir is known for his chameleonic ability to take another artists aesthetic, and use their technique as a glaze over his own. In this exhibit, opening at Maddox Gallery this Friday, Muir assumes the stroke of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Usually inspired by the works of old masters, the Scottish painter has instead chosen to emulate a contemporary artist for this show (Basquiat) due to his personal connection with the famous artists' life story and legacy. "Jean-Michel’s story and work help me make the unreachable reachable,” said Muir, adding that his practice "could be described as chaos, total chaos..."
The 18 paintings will be on display through August, and paintings are first come, first sold.
